A round table “Continuity of Generations in Science” took place in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today marks the Day of Russian Science and the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Russian Academy of Sciences. A round table “Continuity of Generations in Science” was held at the public support headquarters in Sevastopol. The event was attended by teachers and students of Sevastopol State University.
I have been in science since entering university, that is, for more than 30 years. My main specialty is archaeology. Now, together with students, we are conducting major archaeological research, in the area of our scientific interests — three civilizational vectors, which are reflected in the history of Crimea, and in general in the Northern Black Sea and Mediterranean regions: these are the archeology of the Byzantine Empire, the archeology of the Golden Horde and the archeology of the Italian presence in region. Our specialization is also digital methods in archeology— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the director of the scientific and educational center for archaeological research of Sevastopol State University Sergei Bocharov.
The speaker also noted that students are actively involved in scientific research, excavations, and some have even become teachers.
In addition to working relationships, there must also be human, sometimes even friendly ones. In my understanding, when these components are present, when there is science, good work, an interesting direction, and colleagues are also colleagues, good friends — this is a good example of a scientific school,” emphasizes Roman Zorya, head of the research laboratory “Digital Technologies in Historical and Archaeological Research.”
It should be noted that Sevastopol State University operates one of the first master’s programs in archeology in the country, in particular in the archeology of the Northern Black Sea region. Also this year, the first intake of graduate students in the field of Archeology is planned.
