In Crimea, the prosecutor’s office of the Krasnogvardeisky district supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a local resident. He was found guilty under CC. 2, 3 tbsp. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).

It was established that the defendant served as a courier in a group of telephone scammers who called elderly citizens of the Krasnogvardeisky district and informed them that their relatives or friends were responsible for road accidents. The group members convinced the victims that they must provide money to compensate for the allegedly caused harm to the victims of the accident.— reported the prosecutor’s office.

The man met with victims who gave him their savings. Thus, the group members stole more than 500 thousand rubles from two pensioners.

The illegal actions of the accused were stopped by internal affairs officers.

The court sentenced the man to 2 years and 2 months in prison to serve the sentence in a general regime correctional colony and a fine of 50 thousand rubles. The victims’ claims for damages caused by the crime were satisfied.
