A schoolgirl from Yalta went on an educational expedition «POLAR CIRCLE»
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In total, over 2,000 children and young people aged 14 to 18 took part in the project, but only 24 children, including activists of the Movement of the First, managed to pass the serious selection and become participants in the expedition.
For a month on Olenevsky Island in Kandalaksha Bay, the participants immersed themselves in lectures and practical classes on algology, astronomy, mineralogy, paleontology, molecular genetics, and physics. The students were taught by employees of leading universities in our country: Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Higher School of Economics, Institute of Radioelectronics and Electronics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas. Under the guidance of experienced teachers, the expedition participants completed 16 educational research projects and collected material for several more studies that will be continued in different regions of Russia. Two field laboratories with all the necessary equipment were set up right on the island: screens, microscopes, electrophoresis chambers, a thermostat, a magnetic stirrer, a portable laminar box, and other equipment. In addition, the expedition participants had the opportunity to learn how to sail and row on real sea yawls, take a first aid course, practice archery, and test their strength in hiking and sea voyages.
As winners of the All-Russian competition of young environmental researchers named after B.V. Vsesvyatsky, two young Crimean women also took part in the expedition: Elizaveta Podunay from Feodosia and Alisa Sergeenko from Yalta.
Alisa Sergeenko, a student of the MBU DO «Children’s Ecological Center» (headed by Ekaterina Kraynyuk) is the winner of the final of three competition programs in the 2023/2024 academic year — the All-Russian Competition of Young Environmental Researchers named after B.V. Vsesvyatsky, the All-Russian Competition of Young Farmers «I am in Agro» and the All-Russian Competition of Research Papers named after D.I. Mendeleyev! We wish Alisa success, new achievements and interesting discoveries!
