A serial thief was detained in Kerch: he “operated” in unfinished buildings and at dachas

Kerch police officers have detained a man suspected of a series of thefts from private households.
Officers of the criminal investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city of Kerch detained a 35-year-old local resident who had previously been repeatedly convicted on suspicion of committing a series of thefts. It was established that the attacker illegally entered private houses that were under renovation, or extensions to residential buildings, where he stole construction tools. Thus, the suspect committed three thefts totaling more than 40 thousand rubles— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
During a search of the suspect’s apartment, police officers discovered and seized part of the stolen property. The detainee explained that he sold stolen goods and spent the proceeds on personal needs.
An investigator from the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Kerch initiated criminal cases under Part 2 and Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (thefts committed with causing significant damage and illegal entry into a home). The man faces a maximum penalty of up to six years in prison. The defendant was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention.
