A Sevastopol resident “broke” a greenhouse in his garage—what was he cultivating if the police were interested in his “garden”?
CrimeaPRESS reports:
As part of the third stage of the preventive operation «Poppy», as a result of operational search activities, employees of the Drug Control Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol detained a 48-year-old local resident suspected of cultivating drug-containing plants.
It was established that at the beginning of 2023, the man purchased hemp seeds from the shadow segment of the Internet, and then, after studying the conditions for growing drug-containing plants, he equipped a greenhouse in his garage box. To obtain high yields, he equipped it with automatic lighting, ventilation and heating systems. To neutralize the smell emanating from the growing bushes, the drug farmer used special chemical reagents. During the search, police seized 50 hemp seedlings from a greenhouse located in the garage. In addition, fertilizers and equipment for cultivating drug-containing plants were found in the premises.— reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.
A criminal case was opened against the detainee by the investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Gagarinsky district on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 231 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “Illegal large-scale cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs.” The defendant faces up to two years in prison.
