A shopping center caught fire in Simferopol last night

At 20:25 Moscow time, the Crisis Management Center received a message about smoke in the Lotsman shopping center at the address: Simferopol, Sevastopolskaya Street. Fire and rescue units of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea were immediately dispatched to the scene of the incident. Preliminary, the fire occurred on the third floor of the building.

Later, the area of ​​the fire increased to 500 square meters, and the roof partially collapsed. It is specified that about 130 people were evacuated, no one was injured.

Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea Igor Skurtul told journalists that the fire was assigned the third level of complexity. According to the Investigative Committee for Crimea and Sevastopol, a possible source of the fire was a children’s playroom on the third floor of the shopping center. Investigators are conducting an investigation into the provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of citizens (Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The Crimean Prosecutor’s Office has also organized an investigation.

Later, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that the fire had been localized.
