A soldier from the banned Ukrainian National Battalion was detained in Crimea

Operatives of the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol detained a member of the illegal armed formation “Crimean Tatar Battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan” (recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia) in the case of participation in an armed formation on the territory of a foreign state.
The Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, together with the border department of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea, detained a Russian citizen, born in 1988, who is a member of the illegal armed formation “Crimean Tatar Battalion named after Noman Celebidzhikhan” (banned on the territory of the Russian Federation — ed.). A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation on the territory of a foreign state in an armed formation not provided for by the legislation of that state, for purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation). The defendant was taken into custodysays the press service of the regional FSB Directorate.
The man joined the ranks of an illegal armed group stationed on the territory of Ukraine in 2015. He actively took part in his work directed against the interests of Russia. Being provided with firearms, he performed duties of checking people and vehicles at checkpoints on the border between Ukraine and Russia, and protecting facilities. However, until now the man has not announced his voluntary cessation of participation in the activities of the banned Ukrainian National Battalion.
