A special excursion was held in Tauride Chersonesus for children from Genichesk
CrimeaPRESS reports:
They talked about love, faith and spiritual values at the museum-reserve. The guests of Tauride Chersonesos were children from the Genichesk sanatorium comprehensive boarding school.
Young travelers came to Sevastopol to see iconic sights, visit places of military glory and, of course, see with their own eyes the city of two millennia. Today, schoolchildren walked along its ancient streets, appreciated the strength of the defensive walls, learned about the art of the past in the Antique Theater of the museum-reserve and admired the seascapes, the 1935 Basilica and the Fog Bell— note the press service of the Chersonese Tauride Museum-Reserve.
During the thematic lesson, special attention was paid to the event that occurred in Chersonesus — Kherson — Korsun in 988. The head of the department for the preparation and implementation of spiritual and educational programs of the museum-reserve O. O. Nekrashevich spoke about the prerequisites that led Grand Duke Vladimir to the ancient city, about its siege by the Russian army and how the ruler and his retinue were baptized on this land. Olga Olegovna helped the children imagine those distant events, realize the historical significance of the adoption of Christianity, and also reflect on the values underlying the national culture.
I really liked it in Chersonesos! There is a special atmosphere here, which makes it unlike other museums. Our guide told us colorfully and in detail about the history of the ancient city and the adoption of Christianity here by Vladimir Krasno Solnyshko,” Alena Krivosheeva shared her impressions.
