A storm warning has been announced for January 12-13 in Crimea

The Ministry of Emergency Situations issued a warning about dangerous hydrometeorological phenomena in Crimea on January 12 and 13. These days, snow, sleet, and sometimes very heavy precipitation are expected on the peninsula. Deposits of wet snow, sleet and black ice are possible. In addition, the northwest wind is expected to increase to 15-20 m/s, with gusts of up to 25 m/s on the South Coast and in the mountains. On the night of January 13, the air temperature will drop to -11… -16 C, on the South Coast to -8… -10 C.
In these conditions, there is a high probability of emergencies associated with accidents at energy facilities, housing and communal services, an increase in the number of road accidents, disruptions in transport communications, obstruction of vehicle traffic on roads, long descents and ascents, dangerous turns and mountain passes. Flooding of areas is possible. There is a threat to the life and health of the population due to the possible fall of billboards, weakly reinforced structures, trees and possible broken power linesthe emergency department said in a statement.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea recommends following safety measures:
— exclude access to mountainous forest areas;
— refrain from going to the sea and inland waters;
— do not go to embankments and bank protection structures;
— pay attention to the condition of drainage systems, drainage channels, storm drains, and cleaning storm sewers from debris;
— limit your stay in the immediate vicinity of river beds, including dry ones.
— we recommend that the population living in close proximity to water bodies and in areas with dry riverbeds take measures to preserve their property.
— drivers of vehicles, if it is impossible to limit travel, be extremely careful on the road, do not exceed the speed limit and strictly follow the traffic rules.
— for tourists and lovers of wild recreation with a tent, during the period of the storm warning, we recommend that you refrain from the chosen type of recreation and postpone it to a more favorable period.
— pedestrians should take special care when crossing the road;
— go outside in shoes with non-slip soles, move carefully, slowly, taking into account uneven surfaces.
In bad weather, pay special attention to the safety of children and the elderly, and be attentive to others.
