In Alushta, on the basis of the training center for sports training of Russian national teams «Crimean», the World Strength Sports Championship «Golden Tiger — XVII» «Crimean Platform» was held. About two thousand athletes took part in this event and demonstrated their strength. A policeman from Alushta, senior investigator of the department of economic security and anti-corruption, Yaroslav Makarovets, took first place among professionals in the bench press discipline without equipment and became the Crimean record holder in his weight category, pressing a barbell weighing 255 kg from his chest.
The strongman-policeman has been in sports for more than 20 years and is the holder of the sports title of international master of sports in the bench press in the PRO division in the Federation of the National Powerlifting Association of Russia. In 2019, in the Tavrika Cup tournament, he took first place in the bench press in his weight category, as well as third place in the overall standings.
