The duty station of one of the departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Yalta received a message from a 30-year-old local resident about the theft of a moped worth about 15 thousand rubles, which belongs to her husband. According to the information received, the owner left the vehicle in the local area, but when he returned, he discovered that his personal property was missing.
As a result of the operational search activities carried out by detectives of the criminal investigation department, the identity of the suspect was established. He turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of Yalta.
Police officers found out that the man knew the owner of the moped. The victim repeatedly turned to the attacker for help in repairing the vehicle. The suspect, knowing where the moped was parked and also that the ignition key was kept in the trunk, took advantage of the opportunity during the day and rolled someone else’s property away from the parking lot. Then he started the vehicle and fled the crime scene.— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
The attacker confessed to his crime (of course, because he was shown a video that captured the moment of the theft). Police officers managed to find stolen property near the detainee’s place of residence.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Theft). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to five years. The attacker was given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place and proper behavior.
