A suspect in the theft of an expensive smartphone and a large sum from a bank account was detained in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

  • incident one: PThe police established that a 33-year-old local resident purchased two mobile phones with a total cost of about 210 thousand rubles and decided to celebrate the expensive purchases by drinking alcoholic beverages in his parked car near his residence address. While intoxicated, he asked a passerby to take him home, and later noticed that he had lost a new smartphone worth 120 thousand rubles.
  • in the second case A 68-year-old pensioner, while intoxicated, fell asleep on the street, and when he woke up and came home, he discovered his phone was missing. The man did not attach much importance to this and, as it turned out, in vain. He later learned that using a banking application installed on the stolen phone, more than 467 thousand rubles were stolen from his account.

As a result of operational search activities, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Leninsky district identified and detained a suspect in the thefts. He turned out to be a 29-year-old local resident. The detainee said that he sold the stolen smartphone and spent all the criminal proceeds on entertainment and shopping.

In relation to the suspect, investigators from the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Leninsky district initiated criminal cases under Part 2 and Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to six years.
