A suspect in two thefts from a thrift store was detained in Sevastopol

The theft of goods by the attacker was recorded by CCTV cameras located in the trading premises of the thrift store.

Police established that a 31-year-old man, previously convicted of possession of prohibited substances, visited a thrift store with the intention of committing theft. Choosing a moment when the seller was distracted, he secretly stole a grinding machine worth 3 thousand rubles from the display window and disappeared. A few weeks later, he returned to the same pawnshop and, using a similar scheme, stole a laptop worth 38 thousand rubles. The attacker sold the stolen equipment to a random passer-by, and spent the criminal proceeds on shopping and entertainment.— the details of the incident were announced in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.

Having discovered the missing goods, the store administration contacted the police. As a result of operational search activities, criminal investigation officers of the Russian Department of Internal Affairs for the Leninsky District identified the suspect and detained him. The involvement of the detainee in the thefts committed is confirmed by his confession and seized material evidence, and the location of the stolen property is established.

Criminal cases have been initiated against the suspect under Part 1 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”, he faces up to two years in prison. The defendant was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention.
