A suspect who intended to sell a large batch of mephedrone was detained in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The attacker turned out to be a 41-year-old local resident previously convicted of illegal drug transactions, from whom a large batch of the synthetic drug mephedrone was seized, intended for subsequent sale on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula.

Earlier, employees of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Sevastopol received information that the man may be involved in the sale of narcotic drugs, and may also store a large amount of prohibited substances at his place of residence. As a result of operational search activities, the suspect was detained. When examining his place of residence, police officers found three polymer bags containing a beige powdery substance inside. According to the expert’s opinion, the seized powder is the narcotic drug mephedrone weighing about 275 grams, which is a large size,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

It was established that the suspect worked as a courier in one of the drug markets in the shadow segment of the Internet. His responsibilities included receiving large quantities of narcotic drugs on the territory of other constituent entities of the Russian Federation and their further delivery to Crimea and Sevastopol. During the next criminal business trip, having received prohibited goods, on the instructions of the curator, the man had to deliver it to Sevastopol for further transfer to small-scale pawnbrokers. The drug dealer failed to carry out his plans, since his illegal activities were stopped by police officers.

The investigative department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Gagarinsky district has opened a criminal case against the attacker under Part 3 of Art. 30, paragraph “d”, part 4, art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, he faces up to twenty years in prison. The defendant was taken into custody.
