A teenager was detained in Sevastopol for participating in the fraudulent scheme “Your relative caused an accident”

The police found out that a 17-year-old schoolboy had found work as a courier in one of the instant messengers. On the instructions of an anonymous curator, he was supposed to visit pensioners, take money from them and transfer it to the accounts indicated to him. For each visit, the scammers promised to pay him 5 thousand rubles. Previously, the 82-year-old pensioner received a call from a telephone swindler and, introducing herself as her daughter, said that she had committed a serious accident. After which her accomplice, who introduced himself as an investigator, deceived the grandmother into giving the courier 55 thousand rubles to resolve the issue of not initiating a criminal case and paying for treatment.— reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.

On the same day, the young man received from his handlers the following address, where a 64-year-old man was supposed to give him a large sum, supposedly for the treatment of his wife who had been in a road accident. After the courier received the package and headed out of the apartment building, he was detained by local police officers.

A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.
