A teenager was detained in Simferopol for helping remote scammers

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Police department No. 3 “Central” received a message from a 46-year-old resident of Simferopol that his grandmother had become a victim of the fraudulent scheme “Your relative was in an accident.”

He said that a 91-year-old relative’s home phone received a call from an unknown person, who said that her daughter had been in an accident and that money needed to be transferred for treatment. After which the pensioner, believing the unknown, handed over 100 thousand rubles to the arriving courier through the apartment window. As a result of operational search activities, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol identified and detained the suspect — a 16-year-old native of Alushta. The guy confessed to his crime — The details of the story were announced by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.

A young participant in the deception scheme said that he received a “profitable” offer to earn money in the messenger. Following the instructions of the curators, the young man arrived at the address where the victim lived and took money from her, which he transferred to the “employer’s” accounts, leaving himself 5% of the amount received as a reward.

Currently, the suspect has been chosen as a preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place.

The investigator of the OP No. 3 “Central” of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). The sanction of this article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to five years.

The Crimean police warn young people that by agreeing to such offers of easy money, you can become a participant in a fraudulent scheme and cross out your destiny.
