A unified financial literacy lesson was held in Sevastopol schools
CrimeaPRESS reports:
October 11, 2023 in all schools of Sevastopol passed A single lesson in financial literacy. At the same time, about 2,000 high school students from 60 educational institutions, including in remote villages of the region, took part in it.
The key topic of this year’s lesson was cyber literacy. Experts from the Sevastopol Branch of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, regional banks, specialists from the Department of Finance of the Government of Sevastopol, the MFC and the Social Insurance Fund, teachers from Sevastopol State University, the Sevastopol branch of the Russian Economic University. Plekhanov and a branch of Moscow State University named after. Lomonosov in Sevastopol taught schoolchildren about the rules of cyber hygiene, current fraudulent schemes and behavior algorithms when contacting scammers. The lectures were supported by interactive work in the classroom and testing, during which the children tested their skills in countering criminals.
It is no longer possible to imagine our life without digitalization, and the financial sector is no exception. On the one hand, we received comfort and convenience: you can pay for a purchase without taking out your wallet or even using a bank card, you can transfer money to another person in just a few minutes, and you don’t need to go to the bank to get a loan or open a deposit. However, new technologies also bring new threats — the growth of cybercrime using social engineering methods. During today’s lesson we teach schoolchildren to resist the tricks and psychological pressure of scammers— quotes the press service of the manager of the Sevastopol Branch of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Bezhan.
In addition, experts introduced schoolchildren to the signs of the authenticity of money and talked about the updated banknotes of the Bank of Russia in denominations of 5 and 10 rubles.
We hope that the advice and recommendations received today will help our students better navigate the world of finance and effectively resist cyber fraudsterssays geography teacher at Sevastopol gymnasium No. 5 Tatyana Baranova.
Let us remind you that financial literacy topics are now integrated into compulsory general education subjects. Schoolchildren are taught safe behavior on the Internet and are introduced to methods of protection against various types of financial fraud.
The Bank of Russia conducts financial literacy lessons not only in person, but also online. From September 19 to December 15, 2023, the autumn session of online classes is taking place, to which all general and secondary education organizations in Sevastopol are connected. About 24 thousand Sevastopol schoolchildren, college and technical school students, and orphanage pupils annually participate in the Bank of Russia’s spring and autumn distance learning lessons.
