A unique operation was carried out in the perinatal center of Crimea: they saved the life of the mother and baby
Krympress reports:
In the perinatal center of the GBUZ RK «Republican Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko ”For the first time in the Republic of Crimea, an operation was undergoing a delivery of a pregnant woman with a germination of placenta into surrounding fabrics, using the technique of temporary cylinder tamponade of common iliac arteries.
The pregnant woman entered the department of pregnancy pathology of the perinatal center with complete presentation and germination of the placenta with pronounced phenomena of the threat of premature birth. The woman was conducted by preserving therapy for up to 32 weeks. Given the impossibility of transporting the patient to the federal center due to complex pathology, the consultation decided on an emergency delivery of the pregnant woman according to the life of the woman and the child. The operation was carried out by a multidisciplinary team of specialists on the basis of the perinatal center. 11 doctors were involved in the delivery-X-rayndovascular and vascular surgeons, obstetrician-gynecologists, urologists, children’s surgeons, neonatologists-resuscitation,-the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Crimea said.
The use of the technique of temporary cylinder tamponade of the common ileum of the arteries allowed us to preserve nearby organs and achieve minimal blood loss in this pathology. The essence of the methodology is as follows — an X -rayendovascular surgeon through small punctures in the femoral arteries introduces special catheters with a cylinder at the end into the common iliac artery (blood vessels that supply the small pelvis). When the catheters reach the right place in the iliac artery, the cylinder swells and temporarily blocks the blood flow into the arteries that feeds the uterus and placenta. At this point, doctors get the opportunity to perform surgery (cesarean section) with minimal blood loss, since the blood supply to the operated area is temporarily limited.
The operation lasted more than two hours and passed successfully. Thanks to the coordinated work of the whole team of doctors, a premature girl with a weight of 2532 grams and a height of 46 centimeters was born. The child was assisted by children’s resuscitations and neonatologists, ensuring her departure at the 2nd stage of nursing premature children.
Currently, a woman with a newborn girl is discharged home in satisfactory condition.
