CrimeaPRESS reports:
According to the Crimean prosecutor’s office, a verdict has been issued in a criminal case against 45-year-old Ukrainian citizen Sergei Popov. He was found guilty under Art. 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (espionage).
The court established that in May 2023, Popov, while on the territory of the Akimovsky district, collected data on the locations of military equipment and personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He transmitted this information via an Internet messenger to an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Subsequently, this information could be used to inflict fire damage at the location of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation— reported the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Crimea.
The court agreed with the state prosecutor’s opinion about Popov’s guilt and sentenced him to 12 years in prison to be served in a maximum security penal colony.
