A «walrus» was rescued in Yalta. A swim in the February sea almost became fatal
CrimeaPRESS reports:
It’s not that you shouldn’t swim behind the buoys, but you shouldn’t go into the sea at all. Not a season!
This morning, at 8:44, a message was received that in Yalta, on the Massandra beach, the help of rescuers was required. The woman, according to eyewitnesses, went for a swim in the sea and did not return to shore for 40 minutes.
GIMS employees and divers from the Specialized Squad of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea were promptly sent to the scene of the incident, where they found the victim 300 meters from the shore. The evacuation to the beach was successful, ambulance doctors provided the necessary assistance— said the emergency department.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea does not recommend swimming until the water has warmed up to at least 18–19 C (currently 6–7 C). Crimean “walruses”, of course, are fearless — but… it’s true, such swims are dangerous.
