A week before the opening of the «New Chersonesos», the press was told and shown what the museum and temple complex would be like

On July 23, a press screening and a thematic press conference took place in New Chersonesos, timed to coincide with the test opening of the museum and temple complex.

During the press screening, the participants were shown the main objects of the historical and architectural park: the Museum of Christianity, the Museum of Antiquity and Byzantium, the Museum of Crimea and Novorossiya, the Temple Park, the amphitheater «Griffin Arena» with 1,200 seats, which received its name in honor of the play «Griffin», which has already become the calling card of Chersonesos, as well as the reconstructed «Byzantine Quarter» from the time of Prince Vladimir.

At the end of the excursion, a press conference was held, at which Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea and the Governor of the city of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev spoke.

The press conference discussed such issues as the work schedule and conditions for visiting the museum and temple complex, transport infrastructure and logistics at the location of the Chersonesos Taurica Park, ensuring the safety of visitors and the site itself, the availability of benefits for certain categories of citizens, and the organization of an accessible environment for people with disabilities.

The opening of the museum and temple complex «New Chersonesos» will take place on July 30 in a test mode. Entrance to the territory of the historical and architectural park will be free. The complex will be open daily from 08:00 to 00:00. Entrance to the territory of Chersonesos will be limited at 23:00.

The participants of the press conference emphasized that access to the territory of the museum and temple complex will be free, but those wishing to visit «New Chersonesos» will need to register in advance, which is due to the huge flow of people wishing to visit and security requirements. Free entrance tickets to the territory of the complex can be obtained through the online service «Kassa24» and the website Khersones.rf (it will start working soon).

Metropolitan Tikhon expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill for his special prayers for the construction of the historical and archaeological park «Tauric Chersonesos».

The Head of the Crimean Metropolitanate also emphasized the decisive role of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the implementation of a project that is unprecedented on a national scale.

Let us recall the words of the Head of State:

Chersonesos is one of the sources of our spirituality… Everything is intertwined here: spiritual principles, state principles, historical and cultural traditions.

Bishop Tikhon once again thanked the Russian Leader and everyone who made the decision, everyone who took part in the implementation of such an important project.

In turn, the Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev confirmed:

The project is unprecedented for Sevastopol, it is significant for the entire Orthodox world! It was conceived by Vladimir Putin, who said that Chersonesos is the source of our culture, our spiritual morality. Of course, an incredible number of specialists were involved in the implementation of such a project — the best experts of Russia.

The construction of the New Chersonesus facilities began in 2022 and was completed in a short time, without exaggeration — just over a year and a half, while, according to the acceptance committee, without compromising the quality of construction. About 10 thousand specialists worked here every shift.

During the conversation with the press, many issues were also touched upon: from the humanitarian projects of “New Chersonesus” to the vacancies of the complex and employment opportunities, from logistics to the improvement of the historical and archaeological park, to the operating hours of museums and the architectural features of the park ensemble.
