A week of volunteerism and youth opened at the Sevastopol stand at the Russia exhibition
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today, on Volunteer Day, a thematic week dedicated to youth and volunteering started at the International Exhibition and Forum “Russia”. The opening took place at the Sevastopol stand.
The honorary right to raise the Russian national flag at the Sevastopol stand was given to Sevastopol schoolgirl Diana Krasovskaya, who in 2022 proposed to President Vladimir Putin to create an all-Russian movement of children and youth. The head of state supported the proposal — this is how the “First Movement” appeared.
As part of the opening of the week of volunteering, a creative meeting was held — guests of the event asked Diana about the conversation with the President, the creation of the movement, goals for the near future and favorite heroes of Sevastopol.
Which hero of Sevastopol is closest to me? It’s hard to choose, we have a lot of them. If we talk about the present, this is, of course, Anton Shkaplerov, the most famous cosmonaut of Sevastopol, he is super cool. Cosmonauts are generally super-brave, they do something incredible. I’m very impressed with him. And the historical figure is probably Alexander Kazarsky, captain of the brig Mercury. I also admire Sailor Koshka and his feat. He is for honor, for the dignity of his comrades, for his own dignity. I love my city very much, I love its people. It is very difficult to choose just one— said Diana Krasovskaya.
The opening of the new week at the region’s stand was also attended by the head of the Sevastopol youth affairs department Marina Slonchenko, the president of the Foundation for Promoting the Patriotic Education of Children and Youth, the acting chairman of the board of the regional public organization “Sevastopol Fellowship” Lydia Kremleva, as well as participants in the international forum “We are together” and Sevastopol residents who have achieved success in social activities, volunteering, sports and studies.
The head of the city’s youth affairs department spoke about what awaits visitors to the Sevastopol stand during the week of youth and volunteerism.
Today, December 5, as part of Volunteer Day at the Russia exhibition, we are opening a week of youth policy and volunteering at our stand. Throughout the week, we will present youth projects and volunteer projects that are being implemented in the city. Through master classes, through quizzes, through educational programs, we will show the guests of our stand what youth policy is, we will involve them in volunteerism and in those projects that are being implemented in the Hero City of Sevastopolnoted Marina Slonchenko.
The volunteer movement in Sevastopol is actively developing. In 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, the headquarters “We are together — Sevastopol” was created in the city. Volunteers delivered food and medicine to elderly people in self-isolation and helped doctors. Over time, the headquarters became a universal center for assistance in any difficult situation, including during a special military operation. Today, the regional public volunteer movement “We are together — Sevastopol” consists of about 3,600 volunteers, of which more than 100 people help constantly.
In 2022, the Sevastopol Volunteer Support Resource Center was opened, which is a member of the Association of Volunteer Centers of Russia and provides comprehensive support for volunteers in the region. In 2022, the number of volunteers was more than 30 thousand people, now it is almost 42 thousand.
This year, 147 Sevastopol residents announced their socially significant initiatives as part of the #WETOGETHER International Award, 25 of them reached the semi-finals.
Let us remind you that the International Exhibition and Forum “Russia” is being held on behalf of President Vladimir Putin in Moscow at VDNKh from November 4, 2023 to April 12, 2024. The achievements of all regions of the country, federal ministries and departments, corporations and public organizations are presented here. The Sevastopol stand is located in pavilion No. 75 “Russia”.
The exhibition hosts regional days every day — Sevastopol Day will take place on January 8, 2024.
