A WWII bomb was destroyed in Sevastopol. The operation was carried out at the scene of discovery

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Ammunition from the Great Patriotic War weighing 50 kilograms was destroyed right at the discovery site. On October 25, employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the city of Sevastopol, other emergency departments and services, as well as representatives of relevant departments of the Government of Sevastopol carried out another joint operation.

The work was carried out in the Verkhnesadovsky municipal district, in the area of the Belbek water intake — it was there that an explosive object was discovered, which was identified as a German SD-50 aerial bomb. The Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the city of Sevastopol was transferred to emergency mode. A meeting of the Commission for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations and Ensuring Fire Safety of the City of Sevastopol was held. A visit to the site was organized by a working group of the Government of Sevastopol and an operational group of the emergency department. Emergency Situations Ministry specialists determined that the condition and type of fuse did not allow transportation, so the ammunition was buried in the soil and an embankment was built over it, after which it was destroyed through a controlled detonation. All security measures were organized — in particular, car traffic was temporarily blocked in the area from the village of Verkhnesadovoye to the Belbek — Fruktovoye — Povorotnoye road junction.— reported the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Sevastopol.

56 people and 14 pieces of equipment worked on site. The work proceeded as normal and no damage was caused to the population or infrastructure.
