About 29 thousand recruits will be drafted in the Southern Federal District this spring
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In accordance with the calculations of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, in the spring, more than 29 thousand people will be sent from the territory of the Southern and North Caucasus federal districts, including the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, to places of military service, including about 12 thousand to troops of the Southern Military District (SMD).
From January 1, 2024, the upper limit of conscription age has been raised to 30 years. This is due to the fact that among the citizens whom the military commissariats annually deregistered as conscripts upon reaching the age of 27, about 14 percent were citizens who had not completed military service because they were receiving education,” noted the Russian Ministry of Defense.
There remains a significant number of citizens sent for military service who have a professional education — more than 70% of those sent to the troops in the fall had higher or vocational education. In addition, more than 4.7 thousand young men were trained in military specialties.
During the spring conscription campaign, it is planned to send to the troops more than 5 thousand citizens who were trained in the DOSAAF of Russia, and also received specialties in demand in the troops during their studies in educational organizations of higher and secondary vocational education.
Currently, in the Southern Military District, eight research and production units are successfully operating in the Military Innovation Technopolis «ERA», created in the interests of enterprises carrying out tasks of the state defense order. In 2023, more than 50 conscripts from republics, territories and regions located on the territory of the Southern Military District became operators of scientific companies,” the Ministry of Defense clarified.
Sports companies are also being recruited, in which the necessary conditions have been created for the training of promising athletes.
The majority of conscripts from military commissariats will be sent to training formations and military units, where within six months they will receive a military specialty and master modern military equipment, and then continue to serve in accordance with the received military specialty.
The sending of young recruits to the troops from the assembly points of the military commissariats of the military district to the points of permanent deployment of formations and military units of the Armed Forces and other military formations on the territory of the Russian Federation is planned to begin on April 15, 2024.
