About 400 Artek residents visited Tauric Chersonesos in two days
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Schoolchildren from the Artek International Children’s Center came to the museum-reserve! For two days, about 400 children from different parts of Russia visited the territory of Tauric Chersonesos for the first time and touched the history of the ancient city.
The Museum-Reserve has been cooperating with the Artek International Children’s Center for many years. The guys from different detachments gladly come to Chersonese for excursions and get acquainted with the life and culture of its population. This year a special program has been developed for guests. Thanks to it, schoolchildren can not only enjoy the beauty of the ancient city, but also hear a fascinating story about how, being founded in the 5th century. BC e., it lasted about two thousand years, survived the Roman presence and Byzantine rule. It was Chersonesos — Kherson — Korsun that was destined to become the place of baptism of Grand Duke Vladimir and the cradle of Russian Orthodoxy.
We are infinitely happy to host the guys from Artek. This year we have developed a special excursion program for them, in the future we plan to add master classes to it. I am sure that our cooperation with the International Children’s Center will only expand, and I wish that as many schoolchildren as possible can visit ancient Chersonese, learn about the baptism of Prince Vladimir here and remember where it all began— says the director of the museum-reserve Elena Alexandrovna Morozova.
For several days, the sonorous voices of Artek residents sounded in the cultural institution. The children examined the defensive walls of the ancient city with interest, took pictures in the Antique theater and in the Byzantine courtyard of the museum-reserve, shared their impressions.
This is my first time in Chersonese, and I am pleased with my visit, because touching history is really interesting and exciting. In many ways, children learn history from pictures, and when you touch it and literally feel it around you, it inspires. If I met anyone else, then I would definitely recommend visiting Chersonese, and more than once— notes Alexander Vovk, who arrived from Irkutsk, who is now resting in the Lazurny camp.
The Museum-Reserve is always happy to welcome guests from the Artek International Center! See you soon in Tauric Chersonese!
