About a thousand tons of plums and cherry plums have already been collected in Crimean gardens

CrimeaPRESS reports:

About a thousand tons of plums and cherry plums have already been collected in the gardens of the republic, which is 2.5 times more than in the same period last year. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Andrey Savchuk.

This year, our farmers plan to remove plums and cherry plums from an area of more than 330 hectares. Almost half of this area has now been harvested. The massive cleanup began several weeks ago. The most popular varieties grown by our farmers are Stanley, Rubin Krana, Grossa de Felicio, Anna Shpet. The collection of the latest varieties will last until the beginning of October. This year we expect a harvest no less than last year’s level.,” the press service quotes the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Crimea.

Andrey Savchuk also recalled that the republic’s horticultural enterprises receive stable support from the state. This allows new gardens to be planted every year. Thus, farmers can receive subsidies of more than 350 thousand rubles for planting 1 hectare. For example, this year more than 800 million rubles have been allocated for these purposes; as a result, it is planned to plant more than 1 thousand hectares of orchards.
