About the price of a dozen eggs in Crimea — rude but honest

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Prices for chicken eggs are a topic not only for December, but also for January. The “planned” significant reduction in the price of a dozen eggs has not yet occurred. Importers are reporting hundreds of thousands of tons of eggs delivered from Turkey and Azerbaijan, the FAS is threatening unscrupulous sellers with “heavenly punishment”, the authorities… are monitoring the situation, retail chains… are maintaining prices. Well, honestly, directly and frankly, perhaps, State Duma deputy (from Crimea) Konstantin Bakharev spoke about all this. He spoke with the media today at the RIA Novosti Crimea press center and named the only reason for the price bacchanalia — SPECULATION.

I talked with egg producers here in Crimea, and I realized for myself that this is definitely not a subject of legislative regulation. In my opinion, the main reason here is banal speculation. Producers told me that the buyers who buy eggs from them offered higher prices every week. Despite the fact that the cost of production did not change at this time— quotes Bakharev as saying RIA Novosti Crimea.

According to him, unscrupulous entrepreneurs took advantage of the seasonal factor and the increase in demand for the New Year holidays, and the regulatory authorities did not promptly respond to this situation.

When in such a short period the price rises by 50-70%, and Crimea was among the leaders in growth rates, it means that something unhealthy is happening and has nothing to do with the situation in the economy. This cannot be explained by an increase in manufacturers’ costs, especially since the manufacturers themselves do not confirm this when communicatingadded Bakharev.

The deputy noted that it is not legislators who should resolve this situation, but the FAS and law enforcement agencies.
