In Sevastopol, a preventive action «Sevastopol without drugs» is taking place. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Sevastopol and the prosecutor’s office of Sevastopol explain:
Drug addiction is one of the hot topics that worries the entire world community. Of the total number of drug addicts in Russia, according to statistics, 20% are schoolchildren, 60% are young people aged 16-30, and 20% are older people. Anti-drug legislation defines drug addiction as a disease and establishes a ban on the consumption of narcotic drugs without a doctor’s prescription. Responsibility for violation of this norm is established by Article 6.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for criminal liability for a number of crimes related to drug trafficking. Punishments under these articles are constantly being tightened, today the maximum term for committing a crime in the field of drug trafficking is life imprisonment.
Police officers daily detect offenses and crimes in the field of drug trafficking, detain and prosecute offenders. It must be remembered that information about the detention of a person by police officers is reported not only to relatives, but also to the place of study or work. A person who voluntarily surrendered narcotic drugs and actively contributed to the detection or suppression of crimes related to drug trafficking, the exposure of the perpetrators, the discovery of property obtained by criminal means, is exempted from liability.
Drugs are drugs that affect the psyche and behavior of a person, the consumption of which can lead to the formation of psychological and physical dependence. Drugs step by step destroy the nervous system of a person, his brain, so drug addicts quickly develop and progress dementia.
Drug addiction is a terrible disease of society, and therefore it is not individual organizations that should fight it, but society as a whole. Only then will this confrontation bear fruit.
