After the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in Crimea, sea water quality control has been strengthened
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Monitoring of sea water quality has been strengthened on the western coast of Crimea. The reason is the recent destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region. About this agency «Interfax» reported head of the Interregional Department of Rospotrebnadzor Natalya Penkovskaya.
In connection with the emergency situation associated with the breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya HPP, additional monitoring points for monitoring the quality of sea water off the coast of the peninsula were identified. Geographically indicated points are located along the western coast of the Republic of Crimea from the confluence of the Dnieper River into the Black Sea— said in response to a request from the agency.
At these points, experts have already examined 174 samples of sea water for sanitary-chemical, bacteriological and virological indicators. No abnormal results were found.
In addition, due to the emergency, Rospotrebnadzor increased the frequency of sea water surveys at six points on the west coast. Researches are carried out three times a week. Tests for the presence of cholera and cholera-like vibrios are negative, the department noted.
In total, according to the agency, since the beginning of the year, more than 3,000 samples of sea water have been studied in Crimea. In 1.2% of cases, non-compliance with sanitary requirements for bacteriological indicators was revealed. Last year, this figure was at the level of 1.8%. Municipalities have received notices to ban the operation of several recreational areas.
No cases of infectious diseases associated with the registration of non-compliance with sea water standards have been registered— assured in Rospotrebnadzor.
