Akhtem Zakirov from Saki district took silver at the Russian boxing championship

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Master of Sports of International Class Akhtem Zakirov from the village of Krymsky, Saki district (coaches Vilen Seytosmanov and Redvan Abduramanov) became the silver medalist of the 2024 Russian Boxing Championship. The competitions took place on October 2-13 in Irkutsk at the Trud Sports Palace.

Akhtem Zakirov climbed to the podium in the weight category up to 51 kg. Crimean, notes «Crimean sport»had five spectacular fights — won four victories, but in the final, unfortunately, he lost to Bair Batlaev from Buryatia (0:5).

This is what the famous Russian sports journalist and commentator wrote about the Batlaev-Zakirov fight Alexander Belenky:

Batlaev started the fight well, although it was not visible. His task was to force Zkirov to show everything he was capable of. He showed it. Akhtem was short and shortened the distance whenever possible. But by the end of the first round, Batlaev got used to it.

In the second round he looked better, and most importantly, if I may say so, more intelligent. On the replays it was clear that he hit better and tighter than Zakirov. The third round has already gone under his dictation. Brave Zakirov believed that he had won, he should have thought so, but how could it be otherwise, but no. The judges who worked well in this fight called Batlayev the winner, and they were right.

Bair Batlayev becomes the champion of Russia for the second year in a row. Akhtem Zakirov, by the way, also has the title of national champion — he won it in 2021.
