Alina Kasabieva from Simferopol — bronze medalist of the United World Wrestling tournament in Croatia

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Master of Sports of Russia Alina Kasabieva from Simferopol (coaches Ignat Grek and Oleg Kudukhov) became the bronze medalist of the United World Wrestling (UWW) Zagreb Open rating tournament taking place from January 11 to 14 in the capital of Croatia, Zagreb.

In the women’s competition, Alina Kasabieva climbed to the podium in the weight category up to 62 kg. In the qualifications, our countrywoman defeated the Chinese Jia Long (4:2), in the 1/8 finals — Esther Kolawale from Nigeria (5:2), but in the quarterfinals she lost to the most titled participant in this weight — the five-time Asian champion, three-time world champion, winner of the World Cup, winner of various international competitions, silver medalist of the Olympic Games in Tokyo (2020) Aisulu Tynybekova from Kyrgyzstan (3:7)— reports «Crimean sport».

In “consolation,” Kasabieva defeated another representative of the Celestial Empire, Yara Wu (13:4), but her fight for bronze did not take place—Japanese Sakura Motoki did not compete on the mat due to injury.

“Gold” in this category, as expected, went to Aisulu Tynybekova.

By the way, Tynybekova is not so invincible. Last summer, in the final of the fifth tournament of the international “Poddubny Wrestling League” in Vladikavkaz, Alina Kasabieva defeated a famous opponent with a score of 6:4.

Let us note that a total of 543 athletes from 50 countries are taking part in the competition. Medals are awarded in all three types of wrestling — freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s.
