CrimeaPRESS reports:

Today, on the basis of the Center for Ecological and Naturalistic Creativity, the grand opening of the regional stage of the All-Russian action «Victory Gardens» took place. The event is dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Sevastopol from Nazi invaders.

The goal of the large-scale environmental and patriotic campaign is to plant 27 million trees in memory of every one who died during the Great Patriotic War.

The opening ceremony of the regional stage of the action was attended by Irina Demidova, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Science, Boris Frenty, Honorary Chairman of the Union of Soviet Officers, and Anna Molchanova, Chairman of the Council of the Regional Branch of the All-Russian Movement of Children and Youth Movement of the First. For the first time, not only schoolchildren, but also students of secondary vocational educational institutions, many of whom are activists of the «Movement of the First», joined the action.

It has already become a good tradition to plant tree seedlings in the school grounds on the eve of Victory Day. Ecological teams of schools are active participants in environmental campaigns and it is they who are responsible for planting and caring for nominal trees— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the director of the Center for Ecological and Naturalistic Creativity Natalia Datsyuk.

At the ceremony, the children were given juniper saplings for planting on the school grounds. These trees will become living monuments to the fallen in the Great Patriotic War.

Our team is always actively involved in landscaping our beloved city and planting personalized trees. I think it is very important to keep the memory of our heroes— Marina Solodukha, a student of the 10th grade of gymnasium No. 8, an activist of the environmental group «Terra», shared.

The seedlings planted by young ecologists will decorate the Hero City and serve as a symbol of perseverance, courage and glory.
