The grand opening of the All-Russian competitions in judo among boys and girls up to 18 years took place on the basis of the sports complex «Musson» . They pass in Sevastopol 06 and 23 June. The competition began with a moment of silence in memory of those who died on the first day of the Great Patriotic War in Sevastopol.

It is an honor to host competitions of such magnitude in the Hero City, and it is very symbolic that on such memorable dates the tournament is held in Sevastopol. On this day, our city received the first blow from the Nazi invaders. It is important that the participants of the competition remember the exploits of our grandfathers , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the department for youth and sports of Sevastopol Sergey Reznichenko.

Sevastopol hosts competitions of such a high level on its tatami for the first time. More than 18 people from 15 regions of Russia — these are teams from the Southern, North Caucasian, Far Eastern, Central, Ural and Volga federal districts, as well as the federal cities of Moscow and Sevastopol. Athletes compete in eight weight categories.

Judo is a basic sport for our city, we have a very strong judo school. I am sure that our guys will get tremendous experience in the fight against the best athletes from regions of Russia , — emphasizes Roman Semenikhin, Executive Director of the Judo Federation of Sevastopol.

On the first day of the competition in the weight category 46 kg, the victory was won by Danil Pyatyshev from Sevastopol under the guidance of coach Igor Vasilyev.

Competitions that take place in Sevastopol are qualifying. The winner in each weight category will receive a ticket to the Russian judo championship, which will be held in Saransk in August 2022.
