An accomplice of online fraudsters who stole a million rubles from citizens was convicted in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Crimea, on the basis of evidence presented by the prosecutor’s office, a 31-year-old resident of Simferopol was found guilty of committing crimes under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“fraud, that is, theft of another’s property by deceit, committed with the infliction of significant and major damage to a citizen”).
It was established that the convict served as a courier in a group of telephone scammers who called the residents of the city and reported that their relatives were the perpetrators of traffic accidents. The attackers convinced the victims that they should transfer money to compensate for the harm caused to the victims in the accident. According to this “scheme”, in the second half of March of this year, the courier stole over 870 thousand and 150 thousand rubles from two victims— reported in the Crimean prosecutor’s office.
For these crimes, the Kyiv District Court of Simferopol sentenced the guilty person to imprisonment for a term of 2 years and 8 months, to be served in a strict regime colony.
