An agreement on public observation of the Russian Presidential elections was concluded in Sevastopol

In Sevastopol, a ceremony was held to sign an agreement on public observation in the elections of the President of the Russian Federation between the regional Public Chamber and public organizations, political parties, and non-profit organizations.

Our goal is complete transparency of elections. This can be achieved through a set of measures — this includes round-the-clock video surveillance at polling stations, the use of ballot processing systems, and, of course, with the help of independent observers– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the deputy head of the public observation center, member of the Public Chamber of Sevastopol Sergei Yukhin.

This is the second agreement on public surveillance. The first was concluded on January 19 between the Public Chamber of Sevastopol and the party “United Russia”, “A Just Russia — For Truth”, “New People”, the Party of Pensioners for Social Justice, as well as the Commissioner for Human Rights in Sevastopol and the Assembly of Peoples of Russia.

Today, the number of participants in the agreement has expanded — the following have joined independent monitoring: Sevastopol city branch of the political party “Communist Party Communists of Russia”, ANO “Resource Center for Support of SO NPOs”, Sevastopol regional branch of the All-Russian Student Rescue Corps, Sevastopol regional branch of “Business Russia”, an autonomous non-profit organization of the center for socio-cultural initiatives «Nika», Sevastopol regional branch of «Support of Russia», union «Sevastopol Association of Trade Union Organizations», Sevastopol regional organization of the All-Russian public organization «Russian Union of Youth», Sevastopol regional branch of the All-Russian public organization «Association of Lawyers of Russia».

187 polling stations will open in Sevastopol, and public observers will work at each of them. The Public Chamber trained 600 people.

The first training of public observers has completed, I was surprised by the large number of young people and students. Many of them decided to become observers to learn how it works because they had never had such experience. We treated this very carefully, because we wanted to tell it in such a way that everything was clear in detail. We have all generations of Sevastopol residents as public observers. Representatives of the older generation constantly compared it with what the electoral system was like before and learned a lot of new things. For example, they were surprised when they learned that 100% of polling stations are equipped with complexes for processing ballot papers, which eliminates any falsification,” notes Natalya Kiryukhina, a member of the Public Chamber of Sevastopol.

Let us remind you that the presidential elections in Russia will take place on March 15-17, 2024.
