An environmental clean-up day was held on the territory of the Opuk Nature Reserve. 100 volunteers worked
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On April 6, a large-scale cleanup campaign took place on the territory of the Opuk Nature Reserve after winter storms brought a large amount of garbage to the beach area. The cleanup was held on the initiative of Russian student teams with the support of the State Committee for Youth Policy of the Republic of Crimea and under the direct supervision of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Reserved Crimea”. More than 100 people took part in the cleanup, including students from Simferopol and Yalta, and employees of the natural reserve fund of the peninsula.
In addition to the environmental campaign, fighters of the Russian student groups and employees of the reserve cleaned and improved the monument to the Great Patriotic War — military sailors-hydrographers, located on the territory of the Opuksky reserve. The monument is dedicated to the heroic feat of the sailors of the Kerch-Feodosia military landing at the end of 1941.
Since March 25, fighters of Russian student detachments have been holding a patriotic action in Crimea “Victory Landing of the RSO”, within the framework of which they remove, repair, and improve monuments to the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The action is held on the eve of memorable events associated with the liberation of Crimea from the Nazi invaders. On the territory of the reserve there is a monument to military sailors — hydrographers, thanks to whose efforts the navigation of surface ships of the Feodosia landing group was corrected as part of the Kerch-Feodosia military operation at the end of December 1941. The sailors completed the combat mission at the cost of their lives. In memory of them, a monument was erected on the territory of the reserve. We are very grateful to the leadership of the “Reserved Crimea” directorate for the opportunity to enter the territory of the Opuksky Nature Reserve this year and make our labor contribution to the improvement of the territory of the monument. And, in addition, realizing that during the winter period a large amount of garbage is carried out on the coastal strip of the Opuksky Nature Reserve due to storms, the student brigades carried out a garbage collection campaign, making their contribution to preserving the nature of Crimea. Thus, the labor subbotnik became both patriotic and environmental— said Vladimir Kaidansky, head of the Crimean regional branch of Russian student groups.
