An exhibition is announced in Feodosia — «This wonderful wonderful world»
CrimeaPRESS reports:
An exhibition of paintings and graphics by Crimean artists, members of the Union of Artists of Russia, Larisa Voitenko and Vera Chekanova, will open in Feodosia in August 2024. The exhibition, entitled “This Wonderful Wonderful World,” will include more than 50 plein air works created by the artists in 2022-2024 in Crimea and the Tver Region.
The authors see the main goal of creating paintings and presenting them to the viewer in the retransmission of positive feelings and emotions that arise when in contact with beautiful phenomena and objects of the world around us.
We live in an amazing time of changing eras, the destruction of the worldview matrix of existence and the formation of conceptually different views — all this has been going on for almost forty years now.— one of the authors of the paintings, Vera Chekanova, shares her worldview. — Moreover, every time, be it perestroika, default, change of state system or anything else, we accept the circumstances and learn to live on. Art helps with this. And one of the most important places in the world of art today is occupied by the artist. The painter does not simply capture a specific object or phenomenon, but conveys an image, emotion, a certain vibration, which is broader than a point perception and can resonate in the hearts of many people. The sense of beauty inspires, warms and enriches a person.
What will happen tomorrow: will the profession of an artist remain in demand, will people be able to create works of art from life or will these qualities atrophy due to uselessness, and will the aesthetic need of a person to contemplate the beautiful be satisfied by artificial intelligence in combination with design technologies. We will not hear a clear answer. The processes of globalization will undoubtedly lead to the displacement of high culture. We already see that the traditions of the realistic school of painting are being leveled in the fine arts. There have never been many truly talented artists, and most likely plein air painting will sink into oblivion. But we can try to draw attention to the problem of preserving the Crimean school of painting. Today, there are painters in Crimea. We paint, look for inspiring motives, follow our masters — Fyodor Zakharov, Valentin Bernadsky, from those still alive Elena Molchanova, Petr Marmanov, Lyudmila Polyakova. We hope that everything is evolving and a solution will be found. There must be something that will preserve in us that sensual and beautiful thing that is embedded in each of us at birth.
At this exhibition we want to show that our real world is more beautiful and richer than we are used to thinking, and that this beauty is next to us. It is worth stopping for a moment, stopping, admiring…, and we will feel ourselves a part of this beautiful amazing world, constant in its primordiality and beauty. In our paintings we give our warmth, joy and our understanding of the beauty in this world.
The exhibition will run from 1 to 30 August 2024, with a grand opening on 3 August at 2:00 pm.
