An instructive story from Sevastopol about excessive gullibility, alcohol and… a bank card

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Sevastopol police detained a suspect in the theft of 30 thousand rubles from a friend’s bank card. As the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized, excessive gullibility and alcohol abuse cost the victim dearly.

A 35-year-old local resident contacted the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Gagarinsky district with a statement about the theft of his funds from his bank account. He was sure that he had lost the card due to his own carelessness and that someone had written off money from it.

As the police found out, the day before the victim used a bank card to pay for the purchase of alcoholic drinks and snacks for a feast with his 31-year-old friend. After that, he handed over his card several times and gave the PIN code to his friend, who went to the store on his own several times to buy alcohol. When the sponsor of the feast became very drunk, his drinking companion offered him a place to stay for the night and, taking advantage of the man’s unconscious state, quietly took his bank card and stole 30 thousand rubles from it. In the morning, having discovered the absence of a card, as well as money in the account, the victim contacted the police— the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol told an instructive story about an overly gullible and not entirely sober citizen.

Local police officers detained the attacker. He had already spent the stolen money on alcohol, food and other personal needs. A criminal case was initiated against the detainee by the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Gagarinsky district under paragraph “g” of Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”), he faces up to six years in prison.
