An intellectual cinema club began operating in Yalta

In Yalta, on the basis of the social cinema hall of the Yalta division of the Crimean Film Media Center, a cinema club of intellectual cinema has been opened.
The opening of the film club was the result of a previously signed agreement on cooperation and interaction in the field of film education between the Crimean Film Media Center and the Cimmeria film company,” noted the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea.
The next meeting of the club was dedicated to the work of Hollywood actress Alla Nazimova, a native of Yalta. The audience watched the feature film “Salome” (1923), in which Alla Nazimova acted as a producer and actress. The film impresses with its bold artistic images and luxurious scenery.
After the screening, Natalya Dobrynskaya, a researcher on the topic of silent films, spoke about the history of the film’s creation and revealed the dramatic details of the actress’s creative path in Russian theater and American cinema.
Participants of the film club — artists, historians, psychologists, filmmakers — actively participated in the discussion of the film, and also noted the importance of opening this creative platform in Yalta.
