An unusual excursion for special guests took place in Tauride Chersonesos

On World Sight Day, the museum-reserve was visited by members of the Sevastopol regional public organization of the All-Russian Society of the Blind.” A special excursion “Touch the Antiquity” was held for the guests, within which different senses were involved. It allowed everyone to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Tauride Chersonesos and imagine what its inhabitants were like.

The head of the excursion department of the museum-reserve N. O. Goncharova told special guests about the history and culture of the ancient city. From the defensive walls of Chersonesos they proceeded to the Ancient Theater, the Mint and the so-called Rock Garden. There, the group members were able to literally and figuratively touch ancient monuments.

After completing the historical part of the tour, visitors went to the Garden of Miniatures. There they read the text of the Oath of Citizens of Chersonese, written in Braille, held in their hands copies of antique coins, masks and ceramics, and felt the aromas of essential oils and incense used since ancient times. A special atmosphere was created by the sounds of the flute, which accompanied the story about the Greek gods and the birth of theatrical art.

This is not our first excursion; we work quite closely with the museum-reserve.
