And it was like this: the notaries told what extreme situations they encountered in their work

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Federal Chamber of Notaries told unusual stories from real life: when notaries have to expose fraudsters, save lives, or go on long journeys.

Notaries work not only in the office, but also on the road. Including in difficult conditions. Thus, a notary from Ufa needed to provide evidence and record the integrity of seals on water meters in a large city supermarket. Only these counters were located in a well, into which the notary himself, the attesting witness, the photographer and those interested in the inspection had to climb in turn.— they say at the notary office.

A special story is the work of notaries in the Far North and other hard-to-reach and sparsely populated areas of Russia.

Along with high professional qualifications, you have to show endurance and courage. Often, getting to a remote area whose residents require notary assistance is necessary by helicopters, all-terrain vehicles, by water or along frozen rivers, continues the FNP. — There are also extreme situations. So, in order to get to the reindeer herders’ camp in the tundra, the notary had to jump out of a helicopter from a low height. The terrain was swampy and the helicopter could not land on the ground. Another notary recalls how he got to a remote village along the winter road in 47-degree frost. At the same time, the driver asked to keep the car door open so that he could jump out if the car began to go under the ice.

Sometimes emergency situations happen in notary offices and specialists have to act quickly and decisively, experts emphasize. For example, in Perm, a notary managed to provide emergency medical assistance to an heiress who, due to the stress of the death of her husband, had an epileptic seizure. The arriving doctors said that all the lawyer’s actions were correct.

A notary from Dolgoprudny also had to work as a “medic”, — the notary continues. — The visitor came for advice on the division of property during a divorce. He was very worried, and when he went out into the yard, he lost consciousness and convulsed. The notary saw what was happening on surveillance cameras. She ran out into the street and helped the man, who had already begun to choke. By the way, after this incident he changed his mind about getting a divorce, but still drew up a marriage contract with his wife.

Sometimes a notary’s office helps you maintain more than just your health. Sometimes applicants impersonate another person, taking advantage of their resemblance to the photograph in someone else’s passport. For example, in Bashkortostan, a woman pretended to be her sister to certify consent to the sale of real estate, but the notary recognized the substitution. Another client came with a friend’s passport. When the notary suspected fraud, he honestly admitted that this was not the first time he had done this, since his friend was very similar to him and worked late. However, this time the young man still had to come and resolve the issue personally.

Another enterprising man came to the notary’s office with his twin brother’s passport to draw up a will in his favor on his behalf. Having learned from the visitor about the existence of an outwardly identical relative, the notary began to carefully ask questions that made it possible to make sure that the visitor was not who he said he was.

Sometimes notaries help expose a criminal conspiracy. Thus, in the Moscow region, a client presented documents for a share in a garage-construction cooperative, but the notary was confused by the size of the share. In the certificate from the chairman of the GSK it was more than what belonged to the citizen according to the extract from the Unified State Register of Real Estate. The notary pointed out this discrepancy, and the next time the person brought another certificate. The share was indicated correctly, but now the date of production of the document was in doubt. The notary called the police and, until law enforcement officers arrived, kept the visitor in the office under various pretexts. As a result, a criminal case was opened due to the fact that the chairman of the GSK issued fake certificates in collusion with other persons.

Notaries are interested in stopping fraudulent schemes and eliminating any ambiguous situations, since they not only value their reputation, but also bear financial responsibility for the results of their work. That is, the notary fully compensates for the damage if it arose through his fault,” the FNP emphasizes.
