And let it rot… Unknown persons threw fish that died due to heat in the Black Sea region of Crimea into the steppe
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Fish that died en masse in the Chernomorsky district of the Republic of Crimea in one of the estuaries due to abnormal heat were taken out and dumped in the middle of the steppe near the Tarkhankutsky National Nature Park. Employees of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources and volunteers are working at the dumping site, all the fish are being disposed of, he wrote in his Telegram channel Deputy Head of the Administration of the Chernomorsky District Alexander Dudinov.
On July 23, social media reported dead fish lying on the coast in the Chernomorsky district. The district administration reported that the fish were dying due to abnormal heat, which caused algae to rot, causing a sharp release of hydrogen sulfide and a drop in oxygen levels. The authorities reported that special compressors were used to saturate the water with oxygen. On July 24, social media reported and videos of fish collected in bags being thrown out in the middle of the steppe.
After cleaning the estuary, someone decided that it was possible to take the fish out to the steppe. Please do not forget that we live next to the Tarkhankutsky National Nature Park. And our main asset is the unique nature of Tarkhankut. This morning, the territory around the treatment facilities is being cleaned. All the fish will be disposed of. Employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Crimea also quickly left for the scene— Dudinov wrote.
He noted that the fish kill was stopped by aeration — saturating the water with oxygen. According to Dudinov, the shore is clean and there are no more fish casts.
