Another anniversary of the birth of Admiral Lazarev was celebrated in Sevastopol

The legendary Mikhail Petrovich Lazarev was born on November 14, 1788.
The military and scientific merits of Mikhail Petrovich will forever remain for centuries. Under him, the Vladimir Cathedral was built on the central hill, a monument to Kazarsky was erected, and Maly Boulevard was developed, which today we know and love as Matrossky. Under him, the Lazarevsky barracks and dry docks were built, under him a school for sailor children was opened, the Assembly House was built, and construction of the Admiralty began– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the city governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.
To mark the 235th anniversary of his birth, cultural and educational events were held in Sevastopol.
Local history hours and book exhibitions were organized in city libraries. The hour of naval glory “The Great Reformer of Sevastopol” took place in the Central City Children’s Library named after Arkady Gaidar. Young readers were introduced to interesting facts from the life of the admiral and shown fragments of films about the Lazarev era. The guys also took part in the interactive game “Do you know the history of Sevastopol in the 19th century?”
At the Center for Humanitarian and Technical Information, branch library No. 5 of the Regional Information and Library System, a local history hour “Admiral Lazarev — a faithful son of Russia” was held. Guests of the event learned about the childhood and youth of the future commander of the Black Sea Fleet, about his training in maritime affairs, achievements, expeditions and discoveries. But the story about the time associated with Sevastopol was of particular interest.
On November 14, the Sevastopol Theater for Young Spectators presented the premiere production of “The Sea of Lazarev” at the Maritime Library. The play introduces viewers to the biography of the great naval commander. In the new performance, Mikhail Petrovich Lazarev himself comes out to the audience, and the stage is the interiors of the Maritime Library, which bears his name.
Sevastopol spectators will be able to see the production of “The Sea of Lazarev” at the Maritime Library on November 26. Show times are at 12:00 and 14:00.
