CrimeaPRESS reports:
Every year, about 30-13 thousand plants are grown in the nursery of the Directorate of Specially Protected Natural Territories and Forestry of Sevastopol. This number is planned to be increased by 100 thousand.
We grow mainly forest crops, as well as ornamental crops. The specificity we have now is Red Data Book plants, we must support their population. The main thing is to collect the seeds in time, sow them and provide the plants with the necessary care. Plants take root well , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the chief agronomist of the Directorate of Specially Protected Natural Territories of Regional Importance and Forestry Anna Potapchuk.
Plants in the nursery fall into three categories. Conifers are grown on a government assignment — they are then planted as part of reforestation work. Decorative ones are used for landscaping private areas — these are mainly cypress, thuja, cedar, plane tree. The third category is Red Book plants that are planted as part of compensatory measures. These are Pitsunda pine, Pallas pine, pistachio pistachio, deltoid juniper, high juniper. Many of them are planned to be planted in the Mekenzievskoye district forestry.
As part of the compensatory landscaping of the eighth stage of the Tavrida highway, about 70 thousand Red Book plants will be planted in the Mekenzievskoye district forestry, — said the head of the forestry department Vitaliy Savitsky.
It is planned to increase the total number of grown plants by opening a new nursery on Leskhoznaya Street. Its area will be about 13 hectares. All the necessary documents are now in the process of registration, it is planned to start the operation of the new nursery in the autumn.
