On the eve of Victory Day, members of the regional public organization «Association of Sevastopol Search Teams» Debt «started another «Memory Watch». The search engines traditionally chose a forest near the Mekenzi farm on the Second cordon as the venue for it, where, despite the rain that had started in the morning, on April 22, representatives of the Sevastopol detachments of the Duty association, as well as the Simferopol search detachment Partizan, began to gather. Arriving at the place, they first of all began to set up and equip the camp. Most search engines are already familiar with each other and have a good idea of how to act and where. By noon, about twenty people had already gathered ready to continue the annual tradition of «Debt». As told «Sevastopol newspaper» Aleksey Shamonin, a fighter of the Scout detachment, not all search engines will live in the forest for a whole week, those who do not have such an opportunity will come in short trips.
As always, we will work according to the plan, despite the fact that each detachment has its own search area. To be honest, we work all year round, so the “Memory Watch” becomes a kind of final stage and continuation of the work that is being done all the time,” said A. Shamonin.
Several search engines had already begun to work since the morning, they had a chance to meet them on a forest road — pretty wet in the rain, the guys walked towards the camp.
According to the commander of the Balaklavets detachment, Alexander Zaporin, it was in the current search area that the main line of defense of the 3rd Marine Regiment passed.

Of the personal belongings, only a spoon was found. Today, all of ours are just coming, but we hope for good search results. He also said that since the last Watch of Memory, the search engines managed to «raise» the remains of more than 60 Soviet soldiers, although a more accurate number will become known only after the completion of the current one.

He also explained that in their work, the search engines use the TM 808 deep metal detector, which responds to deep signals. With his help, many fighters have already been found.

The guys showed the first results of the Saturday morning search to the correspondents of Sevastopolskaya Gazeta, laying them out on the wet grass: a bowler hat pierced by bullets, a flask, a cartridge case from a heavy machine gun, a leather officer’s pouch for storing a spare clip.
Each debtor has his own motivation to engage in search work. Already in the camp, another Alexander said that he became seriously interested in search work after he served 30 years in the Armed Forces. He was told about the possibility of joining the «Debt» by his acquaintances.

Sometimes we collect the bones, sometimes we manage to collect the entire skeleton, so that later we can bury the fighter, as it should be according to Christian customs. Apparently, this process will continue for a very long time.our interlocutor sighed.
He explained his anxiety by the fact that the search process may be interrupted in the future due to the fact that part of the local territories is already in private hands.

He also admitted that the search experience taught him a lot. For example, how to determine the age of a found fighter and even recreate his image. About one such fighter, he says that it was probably a very young guy. He came to fight recently, took off his berets from the Fritz. Apparently, he was a forceful kid, and the bones are still almost childish. In what battle he died, it’s hard to say, maybe in his first, perhaps, he didn’t have time to shoot, — the search engine shrugs.
The current «Memory Watch» will last a week, until April 30. Its traditional conclusion will be the solemn burial on May 5 of the remains of soldiers at the Memorial Fraternal Cemetery of Soviet Soldiers — Participants in the Second Defense and Liberation of Sevastopol, located near the village of Dergachi.
