And they do this with their chicks, and then release them into independent life. And not only birds, but also people did this on Martin the Fox — grown children left their parents to build their own families.
Our ancestors also believed: on April 27, the foxes’ housewarming party begins. They said that they leave old holes and move to new ones. Moreover, during this period, supposedly, animals are blind and deaf, and therefore, according to signs, they can be caught with bare hands.
The Church today honors the memory of St. Martin the Confessor. The saint was born in the 7th century in the Umbrian city of Tudertuma. Until 649 he was the permanent diplomatic representative of the Pope in Constantinople, and then until 653 he was the 74th Pope. For condemning monothelitism, Martin was exiled to Tauride Chersonesus, where he died on September 16, 655. After the condemnation of the Monothelites, his relics were transferred to Rome.
