April 30 — Russian Fire Protection Day
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The history of the fire service in Russia began in 1649 with the Tsar’s “Order on City Decoration”, where for the first time measures to combat fire were determined at the state level. In Crimea, fire protection forces are represented by: the Federal Fire Service, which includes 50 units covering 483 settlements and the regional fire protection of the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Fire Protection of the Republic of Crimea», which includes 30 fire units, 1 fire-technical center and 3 separate posts that protect 257 settlements. One more fire station is being prepared for opening in the village of Berezovka, Razdolnensky district. In addition, there are also 96 units of voluntary fire brigades on the peninsula, which cover 221 settlements.
Since 2014, the creation of a regional fire department began. The first fire units of the regional fire department were introduced into combat crews in April 2015, with a total number of 105 people. Fire departments were created and opened in stages, year after year. As a result, today there are almost 600 personnel, and the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea “Fire Protection of the Republic of Crimea” marked a new milestone in the history of the development of fire fighting on the Crimean peninsula and confidently became part of a single structure — RSChS. Fire departments take control of a 13-kilometer radius of nearby areas.
The units are fully equipped and have all the necessary technical equipment. Over 9 years of work, the units of the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea “Fire Protection of the Republic of Crimea” carried out more than 40 thousand trips, as a result of which more than 1,400 people were rescued, as well as property of the Republic worth more than 819 million rubles. More than 8,000 fires and ignitions were successfully extinguished, about 600 visits were made to assist in eliminating the consequences of road accidents, and more than 6,500 thousand “door-to-door” preventive inspections were carried out. Fire departments are equipped with modern fire fighting equipment and machinery. Over the last three years alone, more than 500 million rubles have been allocated from the budget. These funds were used to purchase 50 specialized vehicles, equipment, inventory, special clothing, etc.
In total, the Establishment currently has 68 units of basic fire fighting equipment and 4 units of special equipment. Further improvement of the material and technical base of the units continues. Today, the State Public Institution of the Republic of Crimea “Fire Protection of the Republic of Crimea” is a highly developed rescue service, whose specialists are able to provide assistance to victims in a variety of conditions.
