April 5 — Nikon's day. Drink mint tea!
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The church on April 5 honors the memory of the Venerable Martyr Nikon of Pechersk. This is an ancient Russian Orthodox figure who held the post of abbot of the Kiev Pechersk monastery and church for a long time in the 11th century, who founded a monastery in the name of the Most Holy Theotokos in Tmutarakan. And it was under Nikon that schools of icon painting were created in the Pechersk Lavra. Nikon is rightfully considered the founder of chronicle science.
On April 5, it was customary for people to do a big cleaning in the house and in the yard. In gardens and orchards on Nikonov’s day they scattered crumbs, grain, and sunflower seeds, inviting birds. The peasants also began to put their agricultural equipment in order.
The weather signs for this day are as follows:
- Warm day, but freezing at night — the weather will be good in April.
- April 5 is the first thunder of spring, but there is still snow? Summer will be cold.
- A river wave goes against the current — leading to worsening weather and precipitation.
- On the night of April 5th the sky is full of stars? There will be frost in the morning.
- In the spring there was no water in the river — there will be a hot summer without heavy rainfall.
AND! People believed that if you drink mint tea on this day, the whole family will be healthy for a year.
