The Church on April 5 honors the memory of the Military Martyr Nikon Pechersky. This is an ancient Russian Orthodox figure, who has long been the post of abbot of the Kiev Pechersky Monastery and the Church in the 11th century, founded a monastery in the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tmutarakani. And it was under Nikon that icon painting schools were created in the Pechersk Lavra. Nikon is rightfully considered the ancestor of the annalistic science.
