Archaeologist Day was celebrated on a grand scale in Tauric Chersonesos

Dozens of Sevastopol residents and guests of the city visited the festive celebrations at the museum-reserve. This year, a large interactive program with interesting exhibitions, exciting walks and educational master classes was prepared for them for Archaeologist Day!

During the themed excursions «Archaeologist’s Diary», guests of Chersonesos were told about 197 years of excavations and about the almost two-thousand-year history of the ancient city, about the foundation of the museum on its territory and about the people who played a huge role in this! In the Byzantine courtyard, a stand exhibition «Everyday Life of an Archaeologist» was open all day. It introduced visitors to the features of excavations in Chersonesos. The photographs presented at the exhibition told about the life of researchers on expeditions! And the videos that were shown to guests in the tent in the Garden of Miniatures introduced them to the numerous discoveries of our archaeologists! The interactive photo zone and educational master classes were no less popular. On the festive day, adults and children transformed into professional researchers. During the interactive lesson «Archaeological Sandbox», guests of the museum-reserve went on a fascinating expedition, during which they independently found artifacts and learned how to wash ceramics. At this time, participants in another master class were happily drawing copies of various ancient Greek vessels! — the press service of the museum-reserve reported.

In the Byzantine courtyard, the director of the museum-reserve Elena Morozova congratulated the staff on their professional holiday. She thanked the archaeologists for their conscientious and responsible attitude to work, for their love for their work and for Chersonesos Taurica. On behalf of the director, certificates and gratitude were presented to nineteen employees of the museum-reserve:

The festive program of Chersonesos in honor of the Day of the Archaeologist ended with a bright concert in the Byzantine courtyard! A talented cover duet performed for the staff of the museum-reserve and numerous visitors. The fiery guitarist and virtuoso drummer performed hits of past years and modern compositions!
